    We are currently seeking a full-time Substance Abuse Counselor Intern for our Allied Health Services Belmont Treatment Center. Hours are Monday through Friday 5 am - 1:30 pm.

     

    Allied Health Services Belmont, a member of Acadia Healthcare's Comprehensive Treatment Centers, is a part of the leader in medication assisted treatment for individuals struggling with an opioid addiction. With full-circle care that includes a blend of therapies and the use of safe and effective medications, we are prepared to treat the entire problem, not just a piece of it.

     

    Position Characteristics 

    The Substance Abuse Counselor-Intern is a counseling professional who provides treatment and support to assist patients receiving care in their recovery from addictions, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, eating disorders, or other behavioral problems; assists with modifying problem behaviors; may also provide counseling services to families of patients receiving care through an outpatient setting.

    Responsibilities

    • Under the supervision of a licensed professional, may co-facilitate group or family sessions;
    • May be present and assist with initial assessments of patients;
    • May prepare, for review and approval by licensed professional, treatment plans for patients;
    • Insures all documentation regarding patient care, treatment and incidents are completed timely and in a clear, concise manner for review and approval by licensed professional;
    • May evaluate patient’s needs and, working with a licensed professional, may determine if referral to other programs or services is needed;
    • Other duties may be assigned by a licensed professional overseeing and responsible for the interns work, within the professional, legal and ethical parameters of the counseling internship.

    Qualifications

    • HS graduate or equivalent; seeking secondary education in a social or health services field from an accredited college or university
    • No previous experience in field required. Basic knowledge of counseling or therapeutic concepts acquired through education or training by an accredited college or university

    Licenses/Certifications: 

    • CADC I or CADC II preferred
